Hello, JasonC1 are you enquiring about Forster in NSW or SA? There is a town with the name Forster in both states. Currently, the question is set to South Australia (163km from Adelaide)

Hi NSW Thanks

Both locations seem to be popular for families but Taree is a little bigger so might have more options for shopping, schools etc.
At the last census, Taree had 20,000 people and Forster had a 13,116 people.

Suburb reviews for both locations.

Taree is only about 3 hours north of Sydney on the Manning River. Around the town you will see many historic buildings including the St Pauls and St Marys Churches and the Taree Courthouse. There are some natural style beautiful parks by the river to enjoy. There are plenty of shopping facilities, restaurants and cafes as well as arts and craft shops and the Taree Art Gallery. Water sports are always popular especially fishing with some good catches a possibility. Taree offers good accommodation choices including caravan parks, motels and hotels, guest houses and B & B’s. There are many National and State parks in the area where you can go bushwalking and exploring, see native plants and wildlife and see some amazing sights from lookouts.

A user said this about Forster.
"As someone who has recently moved to Forster from the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, I can safely say that it truly is a beautiful area to live. I am exercising and enjoying my surrounds more than I ever would have in Sydney as I don't have the huge travel time to work and the family orientated neighbourhood is making me focus on the simpler things in life. It has been said that Forster is boring and there is nothing to, however, I would have to disagree. Sure, I'm not able to do all the same things that I was able to do in the city however I see this as a good thing as it forces me to be more creative with my time. I truly believe that only boring people get bored and there are so many great things to discover about the Great Lakes for those who seek to find them."
