Fremantle is a lovely and lively city. Outside of Perth itself it has the probably the most activities. With beautiful heritage buildings and cafe style strips by the Dwan river, your Saturday lunch can be quite picturesque. There are some dodgy parts of Freo (Aussie slams and shortening for Fremantle) but just look before you buy and you should be alright.
