Glenorie is a great place for families. Wide open spaces, green, leafy, the kids can play in the street, on the road & are very safe. everyone in the street looks after each others children. The chemist, doctors, butcher, newsagent, beautician, hairdresser & postmaster know you. Everyone says "hello" even when walking past your house. Great Christmas lights every year. The best bakery in SYDNEY with fantastic pies, sausage rolls, cakes & coffee. We painted a tennis court on the road out the front of our house so the kids could play tennis of an afternoon. We also have tennis courts with great coaches so you can have lessons plus sports camps in the holidays for the kids. We have Woolies & a dentist. Fantastic schools to choose from in Dural & Kenthurst which are only 15mins away & buses to & from school. We have everything except a night life BUT who cares, what a great life style.

Glenorie is a semi-rural suburb in Sydney’s north-west.

On the eastern side of the Old Northern Road Glenorie is in Hornsby Shire, while on the western side of the Old Northern Road Glenorie is in the Hills Shire.

Glenorie Village has a large Woolworths supermarket and bottle shop, pharmacy, RSL club, Thai restaurant, pizza shop, butcher, deli, bakery, newsagent, gift shop, pool maintenance shop, green grocer, post office, dentist, medical centre, vet hospital, primary school, preschool and sporting facilities.

Local farms offer fruit, vegetables and flowers direct to the public from roadside stalls. Also, Glenorie Shopping Village is the venue for Glenorie Growers’ Market, which is held on the 4th Sunday of each month from 8am until 1pm. Visitors can sample and buy a wide variety of fresh produce and tasty delicacies, meet the growers and producers, and learn more about local food production.

The Glenorie Bakery has won awards for its pies and pastries and the pizza shop has won praise for the quality and value of its offerings. The Glenorie RSL is a family friendly community club offering hearty bistro meals at low prices. The Thai restaurant has an excellent menu and offers home delivery to local residents.

The nearest public secondary school is Galston High. The nearest private school is Northholm Grammar at Arcadia.

The nearest shopping malls are located in Castle Hill and Hornsby.

Glenorie is the northern terminus for bus route 637 to Castle Hill.

This suburb is a good choice for anyone seeking a safe and tranquil place to live.

Berowra is just like a country town with a 10,000 population surrounded by national park ensuring the sprawl of Sydney can't be extended. You can get around without sitting in stopped traffic to get anywhere. Good train links to both the city or Strathfield directions and to the central coast. It is the quiet family life with nature all around and just 10mins to Hornsby and all the shopping you really need. There are good facilities in Berowra and Berowra Heights with Thai, pizza, Chinese, Italian restaurants and cafes. An IGA and a reasonably new shopping centre with Coles and specialty shops are good. Within 10-15mins you can be at 4 different boat ramps. You don't have to worry about that Sunday afternoon traffic back into Sydney from the coast as you get to turn off beforehand. Plenty of of parks and sports fields. It just needs a public pool (preferably indoor)(long promised by Hornsby council). The local infants and primary schools rank above average. Many secondary students do have to travel to either Asquith or further afield to private schools. The only through traffic is those that are travelling over the ferry to Dural or up the highway when things go pearshape on the F3 but this is not even in the local streets of Berowra. The hills will give you plenty of exercise and the tracks in the national parks are great for walking and some locations for bike riding. Very little crime and the licensed establishments are quite good. The Heights tavern is very family friendly and supportive of the local community. It is an all round top spot.

On the north west outskirts of Sydney, 44 kilometres from the CBD, is Glenorie, a semi rural suburb in the Hills and Hornsby Shires and in the Hills District. It has a population of just over 3,300, 27% of whom are under 18.

It was formally known as North Dural but this was changed to Glenorie in 1894 after a town in Scotland.

Most of the houses in Glenorie are situated on small farms. There are market gardens and orchards.

There is only a primary school which was established in 1888. High school children have to travel to neighbouring suburbs for their schooling.

Probably the best feature of Glenorie is the award winning Glenorie Bakery/Café/Deli which was opened in 1994. Its pies and sausage rolls have won numerous awards. It is a popular destination for weekend drives.

People living in Glenorie would need to do their shopping in either Dural or Castle Hill. However, roadside stalls will provide a lot of their fresh produce at reasonable prices. The stone fruit available in summer is wonderful!
