Granville area - Overall Safety and Security?

Hi Helen, my family and I have now been in the area for nearly 5 years and as the saying goes 'it's all good'. We personally have not seen or been involved with any violent situations.
The best appeal for Granville is still the absolute convenience of the location and proximity to everything in Sydney. Being so close to Parramatta is a massive bonus too.
The other great aspect of the area is the local Guildord McCredie Uniting Soccer Club where my 2 young boys play. It's a multicultural club which gives kids from all walks of life an opportunity to socialise and connect with the community through sport and fitness. I love soccer season for the kids and down at Granville park on Wednesday nights when most of the club trains, the atmosphere is just fantastic!!!
There is some little domestic violence but Granville is a safe area to walk around and the people here do contain their dangerous dogs and one day a man looked rough, his bull pit was going to bite me when he was tying his shoe lasers on the footpath he had his foot on the dog leash and when I walked pass, the dog turned his head to bite me and he yelled to his dog STOP and the dog stopped, I was not bitten.
Granville is looking pretty good now, a modern looking new big 3 storey police station, new modern library building next to the local swimming pools, a bit more of knock down rebuilds have been going around for the past 5 years but still needs a lot of catching up too, still there is a lot of old houses around might take 40 years for most of the houses to be new and about 5 new 20 storey apartments have been built next to the railway station with shops and Woolworths underneath.
Hi Mat, I'm a young adult and I've never experienced any particular danger or inconvenience in the area but have heard of some violent situations in passing. Are there any particular concerns for you at the moment?
