JBS, the owner of the slaughter house in Greeley, has just finished a large oder eliminator stack. It is suppose to scrub and release the oder further into the atmosphere so that you will not smell it in Greeley. This stack was in response to the oder complaints filed by Greeley residents.

I live in Louisville and we always know when it's going to snow in the winter. Whenever we smell Greeley we know snow is coming :)

The smell is not bad most of the time. You can smell it more just after a rain if the wind is blowing. You do get use to it.

For real?

Yes, This is REAL. I guess Greeley Code enforcement has nothing better to do. They give out stickers at the Town Hall.

Hi all. To be honest, the smell comes from outside city limits as all of the feed lots are out of town. Not nearly as bad as it used to be when I moved here 20 years ago. No question, on a hot and humid day, you'll notice it but for the most part, it's all good :)

Personally, I've found that the smell changes in intensity, depending on time of day / heat / wind direction. But overall, yes, you can usually smell the slaughterhouse and the cows.

I get to Greeley a lot and I always think it smells the same, and not in a good way. I may be more sensitive because I'm not there everyday smelling it and getting accustomed to it though, but it's hard for me to imagine living there.

I don't think I could get used to the smell, but I know what you mean that after awhile you would get used to it. Living in Boulder there are the updraft days before a snow storm comes in where the Greeley smell comes into Boulder really strong...only a dozen days most a year. People in Boulder joke about the pigs in Greeley and that is in an accurate way to predict snow. Can you smell that before storms in Denver too?
