Greenvale, VIC 3059 is located within the Hume local government area, part of the Melbourne (Greater) Region in Victoria.
Hi, We live in a small court (7 houses) and have new neighbours across the road. Around 3-4 nights a week the neighbour fires up what appears to be a home made steel-drum oil heater with a tall chimney that he props in front of his open garage doors (in his front yard). The smoke belches out and is smelly and stinky, and goes straight into my home, giving me instant headaches and a smelly house.
I contacted the EPA who told me that it's not their area and to contact the local council. Does this sound correct? I checked the council website and I'm not hopeful - in addition it is a Friday night I will have to wait until Monday. Also the council is the Hume City Council, so I doubt they will help to get this matter resolved. By the way, the neighbours are generally noisy and very disrespectful, so approaching them directly would not be advisable.
Can anyone help (please)?
