Not impossible, but pretty close to . SF makes a ton of money on parking violations; impounds for illegal parking ( street cleaning, tow away zones at certain hours , bus stops, white zones, yellow, red or green.) As bad as Muni is, I'd take it to get around rather than driving. The underground streetcar lines aren't bad (with the exception of the T line through the Bayview) SF makes it VERY hard for cars, and and legal parking!
