"Boring for families"

I lived here for 6 months, and was very happy to leave. Yes, the houses are gorgeous, the area has a title (old money apparently), I felt very safe living here. Fantastic library nearby with wonderful, helpful staff.

1. it is super noisy (roadworks have been going on the entire time, mainly during the day, but occasionally very late at night too. My house has been known to shake from the roadworks).
2. Land size for most properties, are quite small, so people have built big, with the result that house are very close together. Coming from the country, it defies belief that people are happy living like this.
3. its very hilly, which makes going for walks with young children, very difficult. You have to get in your car, to go to nearby Hercules Park (note: very limited parking). Forget about kids riding scooters or bikes in the neighbourhood. Occasionally, you'll see the odd child, being a child, but in my experience, rarely seen.
4. No sense of community that I could gather. Neighbours are rarely seen, and families hide behind high fences and hedges. Great, if that's your thing. You say hello, people look dumbfounded, and don't respond. No real pedestrian traffic where people stop for a chat.
5. It's in an inconvenient part of the city - you cant really walk anywhere. Imo, no soul, hidden away from culture and the more fantastic restaurants. No character, again, imo.
6. I couldn't wait to get my kids out of the local state school. Compared to my kids schooling elsewhere, it left a lot to be desired for us as a family.
7. Try and stay away from the busy road (Kingsford Smith) as you'll not only cop a lot of noise, but you'll be breathing in a lot of pollution (again, coming from the country, its very noticeable how, even in Brisbane, in the "better" suburbs, the air is quite polluted).

"Million dollars suburb"

I lived over a year in Hamilton, pricey but comfortable, beautiful, close to city, airport. little night life in Racecourse road. Terrible Kingsford Smith dr ever lasting road work.

"Expensive, limited facilities, busy"

Lived here for several years and despite its fancy label I wasn't a fan. The newer parts of Hamilton are very busy, infrastructure for roads was poor and meant constant traffic backlogs, in fact traffic was a nightmare and all the hundreds of new apartments just bought in way too many people. The new apartments also attract a lot of renters who like to party.
