Is Homebush west safe to live?

We are about to get a brand new apartment lease contract in Homebush west as we loved the quiet environment and the brand new nice apartment when we went for an inspection. However, so many of my friends are saying that we should not even think about moving there as it is such a dangerous area, saying we wouldn't be able to go outside after 6pm if we moved there, due to some dangerous neighbors, and especially Flemington train station at night time is extremely dangerous. We've always lived in the eastern suburb, so we aren't sure how much of what they are saying is true. any advice from the locals who are living in HomebushWest area please?

Homebush West is an extremely safe suburb. I have come back from the train station as late as midnight or later sometimes and never experienced or witnessed any danger or felt threatened in any way. Homebush West is probably one of the most under rated suburbs in Sydney and property prices there represent great value for money.

My partner and I moved to Homebush west 2 years ago and we’ve always felt safe in the area. A couple of times Ive taken the train back at 9pm and still felt safe walking back to the apartment from Flemington station. Lots of dogs walkers in the afternoon. Not sure when your friends were last in Homebush west but things have definitely changed over time .
