Reviews of Jollys Lookout, QLD

"Stunning views and rural lifestyle only 25 mins from CBD"

Jolly's Lookout is a small suburb - perhaps only 20 houses - and is set within a national park in the hinterlands of Brisbane. Almost all homes are on acreage with incredible views over Samford Valley, Moreton Bay, Moreton Island, Bribie Island, The Glasshouse Mountains etc. Most of the houses are completely hidden from the road, affording residents an unparalleled level of privacy.

Being 400 metres above sea-level, the temperatures are approximately 3-4 degrees cooler than the rest of Brisbane. Summer temperatures typically dont reach the extremes that Brisbane can sometimes get. The wildlife regularly visiting, including parrots and cockatoos, wallabies and kangaroos, bandicoots, gliders, frogs etc give the residents a feeling of being in touch with our natural environment. The suburb is quiet and peaceful; usually the only thing you can hear at night is the hoot of the Powerful Owl.

The locals are educated and passionate about where they live. There are regular social events amongst the locals and genuine sense of community. The (free) bus to the local school picks u/drops off at the door and the local school is small with highly personalised attention given to each student. Despite the facade of distance, the CBD is only 25 minutes drive away.

Unsurprisingly, houses in this suburb rarely come to market. Once people move in, they tend to stay here. Many of the locals have lived in the suburb for 20+, 30+ or 40+ years.

The downside to living in JL is that shops and public transport are a 10 minute drive away. This is easily managable for most, although is difficult for those who do not have a driving licence.
