Kensington Road, South Yarra, VIC 3141

I thought Kensington was going to be too busy when I first moved in, but that became a comfort when I saw all that happened around me. The noise can be a pain, depending on where you are located in an apartment. Some of the neighbours like to party. There can be alot of noise from workers and gardeners. The wealthier house owners always seemed to be doing renovations. It is a very densely populated street. It definitely has a younger mindset. Great facilities everywhere from the oval and park accessible from the top end of the street to the trams and library down at the end. You can walk to the supermarket or drive to one of the local farmers markets. Basically, with this street, you are spoilt for choice. Its a shame I cant afford one of the mansions up the end. Oh well.

Kensington Rd is only a few streets down Toorak Rd from Chapel St. It has beautiful Oak trees lining the street and has only one entrance with a dead end where the mansions are at the end. On-street parking is a problem, with vitually all the properties being multiple dwellings (at least 12 apartments). It has trams in Toorak Rd, is a 10 minute walk from South Yarra train station, world famous retail shopping and nightlife in Chapel St, Bike/ walking tracks along the yarra (accessed by a set of stairs near the end of the street).
I live in a great set of apartments, with all the neighbours getting along. A 2 bedroom unit will cost you around $300 000, but its important to take the suburb into account. The mansions further are anything from $2-5 Million. I love living in Kensington Rd, safe secure and pretty.. and my Gran lived in the same street 50 years ago!
