What is the best town for services including shopping, medical and public transport?

I am retired. I am in my early sixties and fit and healthy and looking for a nice town to retire that has good services and not too difficult to get to Brisbane by public transport for annual overseas holiday. The area in Kingscliff and surrounds seems appealing.
