Reviews of Koongamia, WA

"A GEM THE ROUGH"

Koongamia is that little country town feel you have always wanted but within 30 mins of Perth centre and 15 mins of the airport. Beautifully large blocks with amazing schools within walking distance. How can one suburb encapsulate suburbia, rural and city all in one? Koongamia can, schools with that suburban feel, that rural feeling you get by the large land blocks you have, and knowing not only are you close to Perth City but close to midland with all ammenities you could possibly want. Added bonus: the hills are so close, see the kangaroos, you won’t be disappointed.

"koogarmia is the next Woodbridge"

l purchased 4 years ago, this is a hidden little gem the foot hills of Darlington, close to Perth, Midland next door, Mundaring hills up the road, pubs, the swan valley, movies, shopping, everything you need for a comfortable life style with no preasure, the hills spirit within 20 minutes to Perth with a back yard barie which is disappearing an opportunity to build on what you have for block size so you can renovate and make it your own with some charactistics of history.
Koogarmia is worth more than you are paying.

"Great location, little known suburb"

Most people don't seem to know where Koongamia is, but they all know the surrounding suburbs. It sounds like a place that is far far away, but yet is only 5 minutes from Midland and a 30-minute commute to Perth CBD.

We love Koongamia for lots of reasons. Our home is well built, got a good sized block, the neighbours are nice people and happy to chat. We always see neighbours walking, sometimes with pets or a loved one, sometimes both.

We've had lots of visitors, many fly in to the domestic or international airport. We check the landing time and head to the airport around that time. It's a quick round-trip to the airport.

It's also very close to the major roads, within minutes we can be on the Great Eastern or the Roe Highway, not long to the Tonkin or the Freeway.

Midland is the main shopping centre. That's 5 minutes away. The whole area is undergoing some serious development at the moment with millions of dollars worth of projects underway.

The Shire want to rezone our area to allow for more dwellings, I suppose it's the way of the future.

But for now, we are very happy.

"Affordable - good start for new buyers with limited funds for buying property"

I have lived in the area for a number of years and although the area has had a bad reputation
in the past it is no longer the case.
(I am a single female who feels safe alone at night or to walk the dog etc)
The area is slowly picking up in regards to its presentation. Many first home buyers and families live here and are all giving their homes a lick of paint or renovating.
I feel this suburb to be a ugly duckling but with the work going on about the place, the rickety old homes being demolished and un-desirable folk being moved on it won't be long before demand for homes in the area will be higher.
The suburb is close to everything and we are 2 years from re-zoning (from R20 to R50 )
This will help to push up the land value in the area.

Not great for

  • Graffiti
  • Hoons
  • Poorly presented

"A quiet and leafy place to live"

I have been here a year and find it very quiet and peaceful. There are big blocks here with plenty of room for expansion although most houses are quite small and generally made of fibro. It is close to Greenmount National Park and has a couple of great parks for kicking a footy around. It is a five minute drive to the shops in Midland and has a very useful convenience store (great bread), bottleshop, takeaway food store and dance school. The prices are great value for Perth and I consider it a bit of a hidden gem especially with a major hospital planned close by in Midland in the coming years.
