"Charming Lilydale"

After working locally in Lilydale for the past 2 decades it was an easy choice to move to Lilydale with my young family, we love how everything is at our fingertips. Lilydale Lake his a huge draw card and is amazing for early morning walks. The beautiful Yarra Valley is great for family outings. This is truly an amazing place to live.

Lilydale has several primary and secondary schools, making it suitable for families with children. Some well-regarded educational institutions in the area include Lilydale High School, Lilydale West Primary School, and Lilydale Heights College.

"Foot of the Yarra Valley"

Great location which is fast moving from city to country! Very different to the Lilydale of the 90's with upgrades throughout and further development on the way..

"Lilydale Station"

Very tough, if travelling from the bus interchange and it's raining be aware you cannot sit on the seats provided unless you like getting wet

"Peaceful area"

My husband, and I love living in Lilydale! We love how peaceful the area is. It has a wonderful variety of shopping precincts, loads of cafes & restaurants, parklands, Lilydale train station, schools & not to mention the beautiful Lilydale Lake. We much prefer this to city living. We wouldn’t live in any other area, it has everything we need!

"There is a lot happening in Lilydale"

Lilydale is a great place to live. It has infastucture to cater for families. couples, singles or retirees. There are some beautiful parks and playgrounds such as Lilydale Lake which includes a great playground and water park, walking tracks, fishing jetties, BBQ, picnic shelters, and public toilets and a walking trail around the main lake, which is roughly 3 km. Melba Park is another option with a couple of playgrounds BBQ and picnic shelters and some beautiful shade trees to spread a picnic blanket under. The Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail is an iconic 40 km recreation trail for walkers, cyclists and horse riders and construction of the Yarra ValleyTrail is now in progress connecting Lilydale to Yering via a 7.5km stretch of trail along the former rail corridor. There are great private and public primary and secondary schools plus Box Hill Institute Lilydale Lake Campus and good sporting facilities including several football fields, tennis courts, skate park and BMX track.
The Lilydale community appreciate the relaxed feel with all the conveniance of urban living. Lilydale has some beautiful Heritage trees along our Main Street and some of our intersecting streets. There are some changes coming with removal of the level crossing. The Lilydale Place Plan will soon be implemented by council which will set the framework for Lilydale. These plans include making Lilydale a destination point for travellers on the way to the Yarra Valley. The area is growing with the development of Kinley, the new housing estate which will see a further 3,000 plus homes over the next decade or so. Approx 35k from Melbourne and minutes from all the Yarra Valley has to offer. A wonderful place with a promising future.

"A very peaceful place to live in"

I adore the environment of Lilydale even though it isn't as diverse as Doncaster or Ringwood (where I formerly lived). I do, however, like the shops nearby and the fast food eateries. It's also easy to access Pharmacies and Clinics around Main Street. The problems I have within the Lilydale area is that it's not safe to be alone at night as I discovered a growing presence of homeless people and druggos near the train station. The bus stop near the AMCAL pharmacy is the place where you can find these people at night. Traffic is somewhat of a problem because it's near a high school and buses travel to and from Anderson Street. Overall I'm still impressed and feel happy to live here regardless of the minor problems in Lilydale

"I simply love Lilydale! My house has views of the valley and yet is conveniently located 5 mins from the station, so i don't even have to drive into the CBD."

I grew up in Templestowe and Lilydale is very similar to there 50 years ago. Great amenities, schools, transport and plenty to do around the Yarra Valley, the trail to Warburton is fabulous and Mount Dandenong is just a stones throw away. We even have our own little lake and man made beach! I am very happy here.

"Gateway to the Yarra Valley"

Lilydale has so much going for it and is the ideal place to call home. Plenty of parkland, Lilydale Lake, Warburton Trail, great schools, excellent public transport with both bus & train services are just some great attributes. Great community, easy commuting distance to CBD but Lilydale still offers a rural/country feel.

"The superb town but still lacking the satisfaction of living"

Lilydale is a great place, almost better than Mooroolbark because my neighbours are very friendly and generous. It's very close to a rural town, quite homogenous

"Country style living"

This area is appealing to residents who like the open spaces and views of the Mount Dandenongs. If you enjoy venturing out to the Yarra Valley, you are only a 15 minute drive to fantastic wineries and cafes. There are not many fashion shopping options although the newly developed Eastland Shopping Centre in Ringwood is only 20 minutes away. There are not many is great for retirees and families.

Great for

  • Space
  • Large proprties and land
  • Country style living

"Lilydale Stinks"

Lilydale is suitable for industry & business but not residential. With the pungent smell of the sewage treatment plant and foul odours of diesel & dust produced by Supersoil, Lilydale stinks. With the Shire of Yarra Ranges protecting illegally placed businesses like Supersoil, this confirms that it is a good area for industry and not residential. Lilydale is a great area for purchasing property and renting it out as rental demand is very high.

Good area to get your foot in the door in the property market but not for long term living.

Great for

  • Cheap.
  • Has Its Own Dole Office For The Bludgers.
  • Great Rental Area.

Not great for

  • Suitable For Buisiness & Industry.
  • Rough Neighbourhood.
  • Stinks & Noisy.

I have lived in Lilydale now for almost 4 years and have NEVER smelt sewage or any foul odours that you have referred to?? When I saw this comment I was totally bewildered by it. I am someone who is also very sensitive to smells and odours so if this was an issue in Lilydale there is NO WAY I would have purchased a house here!

I have not discovered a sewage problem when I moved back in Lilydale from Mooroolbark two years ago. I also haven't encountered foul odours around the industrial park. They hardly pose a threat and this is within an area closer to a high school that can't even smell it.

"A great place for kids, pets and recreational interests."

Lilydale is situated only 45 minutes from Melbourne's CBD via Eastlink or rail. So all the great sporting events, eateries, and shopping in Melbourne are never far away. Lilydale is also the gateway to the Yarra Valley where some of the best wineries and fresh fruits are easily accessible. Lilydale is also home to the Lillydale Lake, one of the most popular recreational parks in Victoria! Whether you enjoy taking the kids to the playground, fishing, walking or just getting fit, the Lillydale Lake provides all the facilities one needs. For cyclists and explorers, there's also the Lilydale to Warburton trail. Best of all is the feeling of space you have in Lilydale. Wide roads, plenty of parking, parks and large home allotments allows us all to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the outer east.
