Little Italy is a pretty colorful mixture of people. The Italian demographic is still around with a force, but there is also a lot of trickle in from Soho, Nolita, the Lower East Side and the tourists. There are tons of great restaurants and the nightlife scene is a little below average. The apartments are mostly small because the buildings are quite old and were originally erected in the middle of one of the biggest ghettos in the city. But, because of popularity these tiny buggers are pretty expensive. I really like Little Italy, but it's definitely for a young person that doesn't mind noise and a lot of street traffic. Elevator buildings are hard to come by in this neighborhood too.
