Wanting to buy small acerage. Is Logan area/ Bahrs Scrub safe?

Hello, we've been looking at buying a small acerage for our family including our kids, one younger and one in mid teens to move up from down south.
Needing couple of acres as we are bringing up horses and enjoy a little space around us.
I was originally looking at Sunshine Coast as the kids loved it up there however thought perhaps better for education and work for my partner and myself and them if we were between Brisbane and the Gold Coast as I work in the medical field there is a better variety of hospitals for us to work at.
I really like the look of Bahrs Scrub, Beenleigh areas however, after researching crime rates of the Logan council area I have become a little worried and am finding it hard to find locals to talk to living 2 states away.
If anyone can please offer any knowledgeable advice I would greatly appreciate it.
It's a little scary to think about moving your whole life somewhere only to realise you've made a (very expensive) mistake.
If you have some advice on other areas that are good that will be great too. I do like the sunshine coast towns like Eumundi and Peachester but was just a little worried that there wouldn't be enough opportunity for us and the children.
