The Pacific Beach area is kind of nice in a quiant sort of way. You are close to the beach and there are a lot of older California bungalow style homes. Loring is a wide street and there are some palm trees on it. It feels like a middle class neighborhood but more from like 30 years ago rather than now.
It is a little bit of a dangerous area, especially down by Grand Avenue where there has been more than 100 assaults in the last six months (though most of it doesn't drift up to Loring).
Overall it is an okay area, close to the beach so you get beach weather, but a little on the dangerous side.
