Reviews of Mackenzie, QLD

"Best kept secret"

An average of 7 houses sell in Mackenzie each year. Once you move in you don’t want to move out. It is almost like a gated community with really only one way into the estate and it is hidden between rochedale and wishart and Mansfield which are booming suburbs. Everyone knows everyone in the street and look out for each other and it is in catchment for arguably the second top state school in Qld. Mostly professionals live here with young families and very few houses are rented. Easy access to all major roads and good bus system too. Was awarded Brisbane’s cleanest suburb the most times in history. Great care is taken by all residents and it is one of the most leafy and green suburbs around surrounded by bush and acreage. With all the new shopping centres going into the rochedale estates right next door to the suburb, this is the place to watch prices boom.

"Home is where the Heart is"

I lived in Mackenzie for about 23 years or so, before moving to my first home in Camp Hill. This will be biased, but I will also stick to what is true.
Now I lived on the main road, and there wasn't really much else there, one house next to my family, and a school on the other side. As I don't have a car, all the shops were too far away besides two petrol stations, back in 2012, the buses only came every hour and didn't really do much on Sundays (It may have changed since then).
However it was my first home, and home to so many memories before the foundation of my family changed, if you ever passed that street before 2010 and saw a lot of cars in the large parking lot between the school and the house, we were probably having a large family party, heck pass it in the 90's, you think it was a party house. But anyways, it was a safe and nice location, out of the way but if you don't mind the distance, then it's a great place. There is a park about 10mins behind the house in more streets and houses that are behind it, the park is nice, and I have never had any problems walking down there. There was only one incident a few years ago that did make it on news, however it wasn't a cold blooded murder, it was something else. My mother still lives there, and she likes it, it's good.
This may be biased for me, but home is where the heart is.
