Great that she wrote the article. It's important that people understand how broken the system is.

@Uraniumfish I especially love the part when she says the health insurance of the law makers should be taken away for them to realize how badly the public is hurting. Its a seriously scaring situation, I really can't believe all those people don't have the sense to see how bad it is ..not everyone is employed or rich enough not to hurt from acquiring private medical insurance.

I'm glad that she wrote that too. I just wish everyone would have to read it. I even have health insurance and I think it's a total crock. And, isn't it like $400 / month in NYC? That's absolutely outrageous.

I did the calculations once and realized that the cost of health insurance in NY would approximate the cost of my grad school tuition (which would include health insurance - the NHS!) in England!

I literally can't afford health insurance - at least not any that would really make a difference in what I end up paying out of pocket for everyday medical needs.

@BroadwayBK Health insurance is such a necessity.. my brother is due to undergo a surgical procedure soon. The whole family is stressed about it but thank heavens he has a policy in India which covers him.. I have not stopped paying for my insurance back home either for god forbid anything were to happen, I want to have some cover rather than no cover at all.. on my writing income there is no way I can afford health insurance in the US though currently I am covered by husband's employer sponsored insurance.

Health insurance is very important for us New Yorkers. Because of many diseases that spreads out in any places, we need to be secure for ourselves.
