TSA officer at Newark airport caught dipping into passenger's bags

You know I actually worry about this for as you go through security, your handbag and all your valuables have to go through the x-ray machine while you are being patted down and what not. At this point anybody can do anything to your stuff. Seems like my fears are justified and to think the passengers are Air India passengers who fly out on the non-stop flight. A flight that I use regularly to go home.

@uptowngirl Crazy! I can't believe anyone would even attempt it - it seems impossible that they wouldn't be caught. But, like you, I experience a certain level of anxiety when I put all of my precious belongings through the stupid x-ray machine.

@Uraniumfish the lowlifes and I actually thought that the Newark guys were better than the JFK guys because they were incredibly nice and helpful when I flew out from Newark the last time.
I actually really like the Newark airport. I wish that I could fly out of it more frequently. It's just a lot more convenient and faster. I'm sure thieves are at all of them.
I honestly haven't noticed much difference in the NYC airport staffs, but admittedly I mostly use JFK.
@BroadwayBK I usually fly out from JFK too but the last time I went to London the attractive fare for my BA flight was only valid from Newark so in order to save money I flew out from Newark and was pleasantly surprised by the airport and the staffs moreover I also got upgraded for that flight.
This particular Air India flight used to fly from JFK but it has now been sifted to Newark so once I am back I will have to start using Newark..because the flight is incredibly convenient .. 15 hours non stop instead of stopping in Europe en-route...
Maybe the extra cab expense is worth flying out of Newark?
@BroadwayBK I think so.. I will have to do it as both the nonstops to India- Continental and Air India now fly out of Newark.
And, @Broadway, it's actually really convenient to train to the Newark airport. Most of my friends and I take cabs to LaGuardia and JFK but take the express train to Newark. It's really fast and super cheap.
@JenMac, Wait, which express train goes to Newwark? One of the big reasons I never fly out of there is that it's such a pain to get there on the shuttle with heavy luggage.
@JenMac you mean the train from Penn station? I took the shuttle the last time and the only big disadvantage with that is they tend to fetch you hours in advance of your flight.
Never been a huge fan of Newark - I can get there by taking that train from Penn Station, which isn't too long and is direct, although last time I did it I had to get through Penn Station at midnight, which was decidedly unpleasant
What train goes to Newark? Here I have been spending millions on cabs to NJ...

The trouble, though, is getting yourself to Penn Station, then lugging all your luggage around that big station till you get to wherever the train is - disaster! At least to get to JFK you only have to get yourself to the closest C train and stay on till the end. When it drops you off you're already at the airport and they've optimized the entrance pretty well for people will big luggage.
