What Movies\TV series have seen been filmed in your New York Neighborhood?
Someone posted about seeing the movie Cloverfield being filmed near them in NYC, so I thought I would see what others have seen being filmed nead them? I remember waaaaay back when I saw Ghostbusters being filmed around town...that was pretty cool.

Gossip Girl is always filming near me, as I live on the UES. And I've seen Law and Order a couple of times. It's always so exciting when people film on your block!
I've seen Law & Order. That's just about it.
I think several scenes from the Sex and the City movie were filmed on the Upper East Side for example at the Lumi Restaurant on 70th street and Lexington Avenue.
I wonder how many TV sitcoms are actually filmed on location and not in the studio.
They just filmed a scene from 30 Rock in my neighborhood last week.
@JenMac: Is 30 Rock one of those shows like Law & Order that film in various locations?
Lucky, @JenMac. I've never seen them taping, although I have run into Alec Baldwin at a concert outdoors in Central Park...
30 Rock is the comedy created by Tina Fey. It wins Emmys every year. They mostly film at Silvercup but they do location shoots often.
I always find sitcoms that are meant to be set in NYC but don't do lots of location shooting (eg Castle, which I love in many other regards) very distracting. They just look...wrong
It's funny to me how many "NY based sitcoms" are actually shot in LA. And no one seems to be any the wiser . . .
As long as they have the cliche, repeated "opening"/establishing shot...c.f. Friends, Will & Grace...
@JenMac: You are right. Many sitcoms are filmed in LA. They create backdrops that look like NYC to fool people. I remember reading somewhere that some scenes are filmed in NYC, but the majority are filmed in LA.
NYC is such a vibrant, fantastic setting - I really do think it adds to a movie or show to shoot on location in any case, but NYC in particular. It's just so...specific that a soundstage won't do.
@Ajadedidealist; If a movie is made with NYC as the backdrop, I'll bet the Empire State Building may be given a look at, another with other landmarks. The Empire State Building is the number one attraction for people around the world.
