Wondering if Mapleton is suitable to keep riding/competition horses?

Ive been told the climb/decent upwards to places like Mapleton or Maleny is terrible to tow a large horse float and also horse feed and hay quickly goes mouldy, in these areas as does inside your home, bedding, furniture, walls etc? Told its gets quite windy as apposed to closer the coast like Image Flat or Palmwoods etc where its more horsey. I dont want to be in a horsey area per say, seeking more a quality lifestyle but need to factor in my horses and finding flat to gentle sloping acreage for six horses. . All knowledgeable/professional comments or suggestions are invited. I need locals who understand, please help if you can ... Im thinking of relocating from Victoria to this lovely area and appreciated quality lifestyles and friendly professional type people.
