Reviews of Marino, SA

"Walk to the beach plus! most houses have a seaview"

We have lived at Marino for years. We love living walking distance to the beach with sea views. It reminds me of Beaumaris Vic and Clovelly NSW or like us the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula Vic. But you can buy a house for third of the price tag.

"Most fabulous place to live in South Australia"

Many people have never heard of Marino, even though we have our own station @ Marino Rocks, and a local hall up the road with buses to
Marion. It is very quiet and a safe place to live. We do have a local Café but sadly it would hardly rate two stars. But the Boathouse at Hallett
Cove is just wonderful. Just up the road. I have tried to downsize for the last 5 years, but have never found anywhere I could be happy in,
sunsets are amazing, lots of birds abound, a perfect place. Shaftesbury Terrace is THE place to live, overlooking the water. I only wish
I could move there myself, wonderful street, they have street parties, and it is a lovely friendly community.

"A truly hidden gem in Adelaide"

Marino is 5 minutes from Marion and 10 minutes from Glenelg. Many blocks have ocean views and see the amazing sunsets over the water. It is a quiet area with wide streets and has two train stations to get you into the city. I dont know where else you could buy property so cheap with views and blocks like those in Marino.

"Some great streets and many average"

My in laws live up in Marino and are on a large steep block with unobstructed sea views from kitchen and dine. They are happy there but have complained over the years how far they are from the city and driving there from Fullarton with the kids for visits and sleepovers i can say that its a much longer drive than people who live there will admit! In peak hour it is almost an hour from the city. Not bad with train but if you like to drive its a long drive. Nice area but keep in mind its far from everything else and unless in walk distance to beach there is not a lot else to do. Shops at hallett cove are decent and marion not far. Big range of prices but if it is steep land you can get cheaper because it cant be built on. If you like to go down south and spending over 600k consider kingston park and seacliff too. Bit closer to city and more beach vibe is the in seacliff to brighton stretch.

Nothing to do ? Perfect . Spend half day at community veggie garden or paint At Splash Out studios . Do bit of yoga or Pilates at community centre. Try SUP and enjoy beer after at surf club. Play game tennis at new club hq. Take swim or gym session at SA Aquatic. An hour drive to CBD ? When are you travelling sounds like peak hour ...catch the train its fun for kids . Very cool mix of people from around SA/Oz/world ..beautiful sea walks, surf clubs , Seacliff Pub and some spots still affordable compared to Sydney suburb with views. Marino SAs Malibu with views - residents association is very proactive too.

"Best coastal views in Adelaide, close to the city, safe and with community spirit."

Where to start?! Marino is THE hidden gem of Adelaide, surrounded by a conservation park and coastline.

The suburb has big blocks with almost everyone having elevated sea and/or city views.

At Christmas, the parks host neighbourhood get togethers and the community garden and community centre also help bring people together. There is also a brilliant and very active Marino Residents Association, that works hard to make this a great place to live and fosters community pride and spirit.

With very little through traffic, the streets are quiet and safe for children.

The modern, fast, frequent trains from either Marino or Marino Rocks stations will get you into the city in 25 mins. When you return home you can take advantage of the nearby tennis courts or golf course, have a stroll along the stunning new coastal paths or go for a swim at the beach. On a weekend, you can be in the Mclaren Vale, Adelaide Hills or Fleurieu Peninsula in 25 mins.

As mentioned, a GEM!!

"Quite suburb, views, large blocks"

One of the few remaining suburbs in Adelaide with large blocks, great views. Transport is main available via a train and the suburb tends to attract families. Properties vary more large and old beach style shacks. There are still affordable houses to be found.

Great for

  • Amazing elevated views of the coastline & city
  • Lots of parks, walkways & trails - great lifestyle
  • Out of the way - peaceful, & low crime
  • Simply breathtaking walks.

"Adelaide's best kept secret"

Marino is an absolute hidden gem. Affordable able housing on large blocks with breathtaking views of the coast and the city. The train line makes the city very accessible, just 30 minutes in to and out of the city. There is very little through traffic which makes the streets quite and safe for children. The Marino to Hallett Cove boardwalk is amazing!

Beautiful, secluded suburb close to Glenelg, Brighton and Marion but miles away in terms of chaos. Almost like turning the clock back. Safe and wonderful for children. Quite popular with the retro mob.

"Fall in love with Marino"

Marino is the only place I would ever want to live in S. Australia, a short walk to the pubs and hub of Jetty Road Brighton without the noise the car fumes and noisy drinkers, it is quiet at night, and one feels safe being out after dark.
Fantastic views down the coast both ways, wonderful rocks where young children can fish and hunt for crabs, great little supermarket just up the road, or for bigger shops the Hallett Cove shopping centre, nowhere better to live in SA.

"Views from the City to the coast"

Marino is boarded by a large conservation park and the sea so unless you live or know someone who lives here you may not have ever driven through Marino. The wow factor of Marino is the stunning elevated sea and City views and its local residents who many have lived here for 20 or 40 yrs. Phone Paul Goodwin of Brock Harcourts Brighton on 0417866739 if you are interested in knowing more about real estate in Marino as I am a Local resident also.
