Echoing what everyone else has said, apparently it's nice. I have a friend that lives there. She loves it!

It is a pretty decent neighborhood- working class to middle class. Some of the public schools aren't all that great, but not terrible either. There are some great catholic schools nearby though. The neighborhood is fairly well maintained- neat lawns and cozy bungalows. It is also very quiet and peaceful- a nice place to raise kids as long as you do your research on schools. While the neighborhood was once not very safe it has seen significant improvement the last few years. The real estate market is on the upswing here and there has been an increase in business. As someone pointed out earlier its very diverse- white, black, Hispanic, and middle eastern- Recently I've seen a few Asian families moving in. If it continues to improve at the rate it has been ( which it only seems to be getting better and I've lived here for 18 years) it is sure to become one of Chicago's hottest neighborhoods. There are BIG things coming to Chicago Lawn and I'm glad we stood by it in its worse years- it is definitely worth it now.

Also known as Chicago Lawn - this area has some of the best one-of-a-kind restaurants. There is also Marquette Park with it's lagoon and 9 hole golf course.

Not bad. Marquette Park is a very diverse neighborhood, and I tend to like it. There was a fair bit of crime in the past though, so you may need to be cautious. It's gotten a lot better in recent years though, so it's not like this is a huge problem. There are some decent schools, and while it's not the safest place, I think it might be okay to raise a kid here.
