I think the actual park itself is a good place to be during the day, but I'd still avoid it at night. A few years back it was really bad, with prostitution and drug dealers, but it's gone through a lot of rehabilitation in recent years, so it's probably not too bad anymore. Still, I'd try to avoid it.
