"Look around, what more do you want?"

There are some simple facts about McKay Avenue that speak for themselves. It is a Cul-de-Sac with a park on one side and houses on the other. So there are only about 10 houses in the street. Lovely park. Has a lawn bowls club but not with parking. Nice. 600m to the beach. 700m to the local Black Rock village. 400m to Hospital. 400m (through lane at the end of cul-de-sac) to local primary school. 100m across park to local kinder. Tennis Courts on other side of park. Bus stop at corner of Bluff Rd and McKay Ave to St Kilda. Little corner store art end of cul-de-sac where you can wander on sat morning in slippers and pyjama pants to pick up the Saturday papers and get some milk and a loaf of bread. These are the upsides.

To provide a balanced view, there are some things I would change (perhaps more about Black Rock than McKay Avenue). Unlike Sandy, it has no train station so you're either getting the bus or driving. Nearest Coles / Safeway is Sandy or Hampton. There is an IGA in the village but you wouldn't do your whole shopping there.

But these are the only things I would criticise. Black Rock, like all Bayside is a great place to live.

CommunityMan What other shopping alternatives are there? Is there a weekend fresh food market anywhere nearby?

LaneCoveLocal Down at Black Rock Village besides the IGA there is a Green Grocer and Butcher (both very good quality albeit on the pricey side) and a couple of bakeries. Re fresh food markets nearby - this is a stretch. First Saturday of each month there is a farmer's market on corner of Bay St and Nepean Hwy which is good. Otherwise, you're saddling up for a ride into Sth Melbourne Markets or Queen Vic. At a more commercial level, you're 5 mins drive from Southland.
