My partner and i are moving to melbourne for my work. Looking for help on suburbs.

We are after an area that is safe for my partner and daughter. With my work i often finish from 9pm at night till 2am. I will be using public transport so looking for somewhere accessible by train late at night within those hours. Rent wise we ideally be looking for a 3+ bedroom for $350-$450 per week. Happy to be out of the inner suburbs however not to far out due to my late hours. Any help would be appreciated.
