Moving to Miami, location that's safe but close to downtown?

We are in our mid-twenties and want to be in a safe area but close to nightlife or downtown feel.

Brickell is a good location, but is expensive. It depends on what you like biscayne blvd is good. Avoid overtown like the plague!!! Hmm bayside area is great because it is in downtown Miami. North Miami on Biscayne Blvd is good and not to far. Anything east of 95 that is really close to biscayne blvd.
