If you live on the islands, there is a direct ferry service that takes 15 minutes to the mainland at Redland Bay. Then it's an approximately 40 minute drive to Brisbane (assuming you have a car parked at the ferry terminal). Buses run from Redland Bay to everywhere around the Redland area and further but you'd need to check out the timetables for exact travel times. I believe some commuters travel to Cleveland train station to access the city but I'd think a car straight from Redland Bay would be faster. ☺
