Proposed Parking Meters at Balmoral Beach
Mosman, NSW 2088 is located within the Mosman local government area, part of the Sydney (Greater) Region in New South Wales.
A rally of protesters was featured on the Sydney TV news tonight, voicing their disbelief in Mosman Councils latest grab for cash, the proposed introduction of metered parking at Balmoral Beach. The current friendly parking system is likely to be replaced by a metered parking system forcing all visitors to Balmoral to pay for the pleasure of visiting one of Sydneys most picturesque and until now FREE beaches on Sydney Harbour. Both visitors and rate payers will be affected by the proposed changes which are designed for Mosman Council to raise money additional to that which ratepayers already contribute. Additionally, Mosman Council are likely to introduce remote surveillance using camera and number plate recognition systems to ensure maximum compliance and maximum penalties. Over 5000 residents have already voiced their opposition to the metering however Mosman Council appear not to be listening, instead they seem intent on fast tracking the process of introducing paid parking at Balmoral and foreshore parking areas.
