Mount Waverley one of the suburbs in Melbourne?

Hi guys,

For all you Mount Waverley home owners out there, I thought I would post a topic about liveability. As StreetAdvisor gets bigger and bigger, we are starting to see some fantastic trends in what people think about their suburbs.

What's really interesting is that what people think of their suburbs does not always match up to general house prices! For example, Canterbury has quite a low CityScore, yet house prices are through the roof. Mount Waverley on the other hand, has one of the best CityScores on StreetAdvisor, yet is in the medium-mid upper house price range.

It's good to see, and I for one have spent some time in Mount Waverley, and agree it is a great place. I wonder if there are any people who have problems with Mount Waverley? I guess time will tell.

Mount Waverley's good, but living just off Blackburn road is a bummer. People drive so fast (much faster than the limit) along blackburn road, especially at night. There's a big difference between the sound of a car driving at 60kph and 100kph and with so many driveways and small streets, it can be quite dangerous.

I imagine the other arterials are just as bad.

Yeah, Blackburn Rd is a bit of a speedy street. I must admit, I actually got a speeding ticket about 5 years ago driving down Mount Waverly way (only a 69 in a 60 zone, NOT 100kph)

But, every suburb has it's major roads that divide it, not so many as big as Blackburn, but there is at least one in every suburb.

As far as shopping goes, Mt Waverley is really central. Although the suburb doesn't contain a major shopping complex, it is virtually a quick drive to:

Burwood K-Mart Plaza to the North,
The Glen, Glen Waverley to the East,
Clayton Rd & Oakleigh precincts to the South,
Chadstone's huge monstrosity to the West.

Hamilton Place, Mt Waverley is well serviced with Shops & Supermarkets and there is even a local cinema at Pinewood, just before Monash Fwy on Blackburn Rd.

Very liveable as far as retail therapy is concerned.
