What type of bugs and animals should i expect if the home backs onto a saltwater creek

Area is Mullumbimby. We are looking around to buy and like to know more of what to expect living next to the Saltwater creek. I love the vibe in the town and community so i feel it is a fit for myself and partner. We are not to into nature but i feel we need to be. We are creatives and want to learn more about nature and permaculture. So a creek is important and i have to start somwhere. Thank you.
