Reviews of Nanango, QLD

"Quaint Nanango...."

Nanango is a quaint rural town on the D'Aguliar Hwy in the South Burnett. My husband and I have lived in South Nanango (3 klms from the town centre) on 5 acres for the past 7 years. My mother-in-law also lives in Nanango and has done for the past 5 years, she came for a visit from WA and ending up staying. The street that she lives in is a very, very friendly and community spirited street. The road on which I live is a local traffic only, has garbage collection, bituman and a school bus at the door. A number of business owners it town also own property on our road.

Our town has excellent facilities for your immediate needs. We have 2 gyms, indoor aquatic centre with heated hydro pool, walking/bicycle/running/horse track, we also have a racing track. Go kart track and public parks with play equipment and bbqs. Physiotherapist, chriopractor, 3 doctors surgerys and a public hospital. We also have an aged care facility, Karinia.

We have all the usual shops in town, Foodworks supermarket, butcher, bakeries, cafes, furniture, clothing, hardware, newsagents, embriodery, picture framing, endos, chemists, hairdressers, car accessories, computer shop, video/dvd hire, only too mention a few. We also have a library, visitors information centre and a post office. Banks are few but we do have ATM's throughout the town.

We do not have a large shopping centre but our nearest one if only 20mins drive away in Kingaroy. There you will find Big W, Woolworths, Best and Less, Aldi and plenty of specialty shops. Plus many shops within the centre of Kingaroy, all within a enjoyable walking distance.

You have probably realised that we like our town of Nanango. It is a place where you can have peace and quiet if that is what you need, and have plenty to do if it is more your taste. Around the South Burnett there is an amazing amout of things to do, from wineries, 4x4 tracks, bush walks, fishing, camping and boating. Plenty of art galleries and antique shops, and plenty of historical spots to visit to explain the history of our wonderful town and surroundings.

Through consistent growth of our region employment is becoming easier to find and property prices are very reasonable.

One last thing, we do not have one set of traffice lights or a roundabout in Nanango, they are not needed because old fashioned manners still exsist.

Looking for a home in Nanango?

"Great place for young family."

I currently reside in Nanango, approximately 5 minutes out of the main town area. It is lovely and quiet with a lot of native animals around. We have a young family and find we are kept very busy attending playgroup, library and the local swimming pool. The town centre is very small but has a Foodworks which has all the grocery items you need. There is also a newsagents, post office, fruit shop, chemist, hairdresser, petrol stations plus more. I have found the community spirit great with a lot of activites constantly on. A great town for a young family and affordable too.

"Nanango Town"

Situated about 180km NW of Brisbane Nanango is a quiet rural township in the South Burnett on the Daguilar Highway and many people pass through the place bound for Bundaberg and places north.

Nanango like many towns in the South Burnett has it's share of good and bad particularly when it comes to water and drought, for many years Nanango has suffered the effects of a prolonged drought and it will take years of good regular rain fall to return it to better times.

Having lived in the area for many years then leaving I couldn't help notice a few things about the town when I last returned, there were a number of youth wondering about the streets aimlessly and looking for trouble or what they could get into, it has always been a bit of a problem but only became really noticeable once I'd left and when back for a short visit.

On the whole though Nanango is a peaceful town and is a good place to bring up a family as long as parents keep tabs on there children and guide them on how to live in society and not go looking for trouble. A few more activities in and around the town wouldn't go amiss either.

Ive lived here for couple of years now and Have noticed a few interesting things about the town.... firstly I was presently surprised at how many high school kids here win awards sometimes multiple awards for both sport and academic achievements I didnt expect that in a small rural town like Nanango. Another surprise was that even rough looking kids and adults in this area respond politely when you say giday or ask for directions etc... Theres a lot of people doing it tough in Australia these days both in the bush and the country towns... theres no escaping social decay of one kind or another.... but my heart is lifted when I see the lengths bush people will go to help each other. I do agree the town could use a few more funky things to do and enjoy but these will come in time and when they do a home here will cost a whole lot more then they do now ahahahaha. I glad theres still somewhere an Ozy can afford to live in this country
