Feeling Safe in NYC?

Ever since 9/11, I've been antsy about things like flying, subways (particularly in crowded terminals), etc. in New York City, despite being perfectly fine before! I try to tell myself it's irrational, but somehow it never quite catches on! (incidentally, New York City seems perfectly safe to me in other regards.) Anyone else feel this way?

Although, to add some levity to the situation, I must say I do feel sorry for this guy: http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2010/01/man_breaches_security_at_jfk.html

That guy's harmless, though.

I remember the paranoid atmosphere in the city after 9/11, with pretty much everybody talking about anthrax all of a sudden.

Actually, what IS worth losing sleep over is the thought of several toxic chemical plants just across the water in New Jersey, which don't look all that well-guarded to me. If I were a terrorist and wanted to cause as much damage as possible to as many people as possible, I know where I would point the next bomb. Gotta wonder at the wisdom of having them located so near to a major metropolitan area.

Sleep well.
