Homely grow Executive Team, names David Webb Head of Industry
MELBOURNE, VIC – October 30, 2020
Homely.com.au, the real estate portal helping millions of Australians find the perfect home, announced that David Webb is joining its Executive Team as the Head of Industry.
As Homely’s first Head of Industry David will help execute on the strategic vision of the business by acting as an intermediary to ensure the needs of the real estate industry and the needs of Homely are nurtured and propelled forwards.
David has over 13 years’ experience in the real estate industry in a diverse range of companies and roles. Including property management, commercial and residential sales, and most recently account management at News Corp, Direct Connect and Homely. Before joining Homely two years ago, David was awarded the ‘Living Energy Award’ for developing a high-performance team culture as nominated by the General Manager of Direct Connect.
Jason Spencer, Homely’s Co-Founder, says, “based on feedback from our 400+ industry partners about the exorbitant cost of real estate advertising in this country, Homely has built and continues to develop great affordable products real estate professionals want and need”.
“David has extensive experience in real estate, a sympathetic understanding of the daily struggles of agents and a passion for assisting agents in keeping advertising costs down. So I’m confident he will continue to champion Homely’s mission and further our vision to build the best industry-backed real estate portal”, Jason says.
David’s ties to the property industry date back even further than his career, as real estate is in his blood. He grew up working in his Father’s renowned real estate agency Philip Webb Real Estate in Melbourne’s east, now one of the largest and most successful independent real estate firms in Australia.
The Webb name has been synonymous with award-winning real estate services in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs for almost 50 years. Founder and Director of Philip Webb Real Estate and former President of the Real Estate Institute of Victoria, Philip Webb now leads a team, alongside David’s brother and Philip Webb CEO Anthony Webb, of 120 property professionals.
David says, “I see how agencies are increasingly feeling the squeeze when it comes to rising advertising costs in Australia, especially in these uncertain market conditions where agents have to fight harder than ever to compete for every new listing”.
“For this reason, I look forward to furthering Homely’s mission to deliver an alternative and affordable industry-backed real estate portal by working with agents, key franchises and industry bodies to challenge the status quo”, David says.
Homely’s National Sales Manager, Rory Cook, says “David’s industry experiences, networking talents, knowledge of Homely products, as well as his lifelong relationship with a hugely successful real estate dynasty, make him the ideal individual for our Head of Industry role”.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome David to our growing Executive Team. He has already made significant strides and progress in his first few weeks in the new position, and we’re eager to see what strategic opportunities he identifies next for Homely.”
