Safe? Yes! I've lived here for a year now. I heard it used to be a very rough neighborhood. My wife and young son have found it to be safe and family friendly. We live on Montana Street a block away from the newly renovated Oceanview Rec Center, and our area is mostly families, very diverse, and a lot of nice people. I have heard there may be crime on the perimeter, but have never seen it or heard about it. My wife and I take our son to the park all the time with no problems, and enjoy the restaurants and shops just 2 blocks north of the neighbor on Ocean Ave. Whole Foods, 24 Hour fitness, some very good Thai, Laotian, Vietnamese restaurants as well as burger joints - Beep Burgers!
