All of the coastal areas that are subtropical and tropical in Australia have midges and the Redland Coast is not different. The Streets nearer to Bay they minor nuisance in the breeding season, anything you would normally use to protect yourself against mosquitoes works on midges & sandflies. Dawn and dusk is the time they can be most active in the area especially summer.
