Here are a few:
1. Ocean Beach (though not really for the tanning)
2. Golden Gate Park to the south (the Golf Course is there but there are also fewer people on that end)
3. The Cliff House for steaks to the north
4. China Beach to the north for great views of the Golden Gate (lots of weddings and occasional nudists there)
5. Balboa Theater for movies
6. Al Masra for Egyptian food and belly dancers if I remember correctly
7. The Legion of Honor in Lincoln Park to the north
8. the Camera Obscura by the beach
9. the "submarine races" (aka make-out point) along Point Lobos
10. not seeing the sun for weeks on end
