Are there any independent book stores in Pelham?

While there is no bookstore, Pelham is a very literary place. It is the home of many authors, who are featured at talks about their books at the Bartow-Pell Museum and the Pelham Public Library. Many residents belong to book clubs and the local realtor, Houlihan Lawrence, sponsors a public book exchange at the train station where commuters pick up and drop off books on an honor system. The exchange never runs out of books and residents are generous in donating new best sellers as well as classics (though it is hard to get much reading done in the brief 29 minute train ride to Manhattan).
Unfortunately, It's hard to find an independent bookstore anywhere these days. There are none in Pelham, but in Larchmont you'll find The Voracious Reader (kids) and Anderson's Book Shop (all, as well as stationery and gifts.) Womrath Books is in Bronxville, and for comic books, try Alternate Realities in Scarsdale.
