The Bear Mountain Trailside Museum and Zoo is a little over 6 miles from Putnam Valley. A second possibility is the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk at around 29 miles - here is the focus, obviously, is on marine life. The Bronx Zoo can feel like a bit of drive as it is 34 miles away, but it is a world class zoo!
