I would say similar Chicago neighborhoods to Ravenswood would be Ukrainian Village and Ashburn. They're similarly nice, safe and family friendly. Great places to be overall.

Ravenswood has very dominate German style architecture and food. Another neighborhood with strong German ties is Roscoe Village.
