What is Reynella like to bring up a family?
What schools are nearby? What sporting facilities?
We currently live in a country area, on the edge of a growth area, in Vic. Very quiet and my children take the bus to a private school.
They also do lots of sport. Have to move to SA. So looking for similar, but nearer the sea! Help much appreciated.

I would disagree somewhat with Alyssa. Yes, the Eastern suburbs are nicer, but also a lot more expensive for what you get. Colonnades is a bit dodgy, but the actual stores in it are lovely, just ignore the kids. I also wouldn't lump Reynella in with Colonnades, yes they're both south, but Colonnades is at least another 15 minutes down the expressway. Southgate is probably your local shopping centre, or if you want to go to a proper mall, Marion shopping centre is pretty close and is one of the best in the city.
If you were to move anywhere, I would advise 1) Avoid Hackham/Huntfield Heights (although these areas are improving and sometimes not worth their bad rep), and 2) Don't touch North of Adelaide with a ten-foot pole (Elizabeth etc.) every time you turn on the news your hear about a suspicious fire lit up there, or another robbery/murder/you name it.
moving to reynella would be the biggest mistake you could make. I've lived there for more than 20 years and have never been happy ... nor felt safe! It most definitely is not a place to bring up kids ... there are many hoodlums ... particularly if you venture through the "green area" at colonnades shopping centre ... i'm glad to have finally escaped ... wish I had the last 20 years of my life to live over again ... would move thousands of kilometres away from reynella! The southern areas are generally not the nicest, nor the safest place to find a home ... especially if you have kids. I would recommend the East ... North East ... South East ... that's about it ... good luck!
