Reviews of Richardson Street, Middle Park

"A pretty damn good place to live"

The only other review of this street I would generally agree with - though it has a couple of strange errors. Overall, its probably the prized street in Middle Park (which is pretty hot stuff generally).

The street trees are not palm trees they are Plane Trees, and in the drought can be a nusiance (whiile at the same time are magnificent - they arch over the road). But their roots can take your house with them. So there's been lots of underpinning of foundations recently. The council has put in root barriers, but still they can persist.

The other error is the (Catholic) church. Its the Carmelite (Headquarters). Its Our lady of Mt Carmel, not St Josephs! Dunno where they got that from. There is also another non-catholic church in the street (and the remains of four others - 2 are now apartments , one an office and one burnt down). So much for holiness in Richardson St!

But the main attraction is its proximity to everything else - restaurants, the beach, Albert Park, the sports centre, public transport, and all in big wide streets where parking is generally not a problem.

And for kids. Well mine prospered in it, and I notice all those recently 30 something arrivals are producing offspring like there was no limit. Lots of prams, pushers and similar these days. There's a governmetn primary school in the street, but no governmetn secondary school nearby. Private schools (of various sorts) are nearby as the crow flies, but a bit of a hassle to access due to the lake. But if the young 'uns (and anyone ) are into cycling, they are only 10-15 minutes away.

But value for money? Well that depends on the depth of your pocket. But you need a very deep pocket.

"One the best streets in all of Victoria"

Richardson Street in Middle Park has to be one of the finest streets in the area. Stretching all the way from Richardson St to Kerferd Rd, this amazing street in the heart of Middle Park has it all.

Simply drive down Richardson St, and you will instantly sense that this is a well looked after street. Palm trees line the pavement, and most of the houses front yards are extremely well manicured. The architecture consists of mostly well maintained housing with older brick style frontages. There are also a number of parks here, so great for taking the kids and the dog for a walk.

Another thing that you will find with Richardson St is that it has a very family friendly feel to it. During all times of the day, the wives are walking their babies in strollers down the street, and people will always say hi when you walk past.

It's also very close to some great amenities. St Joseph's church is located here for the religiously inclined, and there is always on street parking available so you won't have to fight anyone for that. One the best parts about Richardson Street is it's proximity to Armstrong St, which is hidden little gem in Middle Park. This cute little street has sleepy cafe's and restaurants perfect for those weekend afternoon's when you need that coffee fix.

And of course, you are very close the beach and who doesn't want that!!

The only downside is that because is runs parallel to Beaconsfield Parade, it is a little bit of a traffic thoroughfare, but this is if I HAD to say something negative.

I have a special place for Richardson St, and next time you are in the neighborhood, I urge you take a drive down and see what it has to offer. Richardson St in Middle Park oozes comfortable family lifestyle living, and it's my favorite street in the suburb by far!
