Is Rifle known to be glitzy and expensive and touristy like Vail?

I agree with Kristin, Rifle is really laid back and more of a place people call home. It's nice though because it's located central to so many great things to do outdoors.

While Vail is more of a resort town, Rifle is less of a tourist trap and more of a great place to visit any time of year to get away from the tourists. It definitely has its touristy destinations, but overall this town is a getaway for people who want to stay off the beaten track. Those who live in Rifle mainly deal with the energy and medical industries; those who visit come for the cross-country skiing, hiking, four-wheeling, mountain biking, and snowshoeing.
