Is Playland going to close?

An RFP has been accepted by the County and Playland will become more user friendly. It will still have the Dragon Coaster and Kiddyland. The pool will become a water park play area.
There will be more green space, picnic areas and room for the Westchester Children's Museum
It should be better than ever.
From what I have heard, there are plans to re-use some part of Playland. The county's budget deficit has prompted a revisiting of the old topic of whether Playland should be shut down. However, given the Historic Landmark status of this 83-year old amusement park, it seems safe to say that there will be some version of Playland that will continue. The county is said to be examining short-listed proposals for a renewal of the Playland concept and I have not read anything about a permanent closure.
