California state law requires all bars and clubs to be closed at 2 am. On slow nights (weekdays) in slower bars, they may decide to close early but that's up to the manager's discretion. There are some after hours places in Cali that stay open later than 2 but they're mostly sad places that I wouldn't recommend.
