Is it safe to buy a house around Story Road and Everglade in San Jose?

I live close to that area and definitely would not recommend living in that area. It is very rundown and with that statistically rundown areas are hotbeds for gang-related and non-gang related crime. I highly suggest South San Jose/ Blossom Hill Road area.

Not sure if we are talking about the same place but around where Story Road and Everglade run parallel to each other you do get a fair amount of crime. In the last month there has been a homicide over by the freeway and about a half dozen assaults. This is fairly typical of high density areas, so I don't know if I would be comfortable taking a gamble on it.

I don't spend that much time in the area though, so I am only going by crime reports that can be found online at places like www.crimereports.com.
