Santa Monica is a fairly safe town. There is an area North of Pico and South of the 10 Freeway that has higher crime. You really cannot go wrong anywhere in Santa Monica.

Most areas of Santa Monica are extremely safe... but I have heard that crime is a bit higher in the corridor along the freeway and also some areas surrounding Santa Monica College.
