To clarify-- the agent who mentioned Garth Rd and Green Knolls--these areas are in the Eastchester School System. In Scarsdale, we use the name Scarsdale to signify the school district. It can be confusing becuase Scarsdale 10583 zip code has geographic locations in the school districts of New Rochelle, Edgemont, Eastchester and Yonkers! The "cheapest" area is a harsh question. We have 5 elementary schools in Scarsdale and all have the same curriculum. The education is the same for a resident of a $500,000 or $5 million dollar home.

As an add on to the affordability, there are coops in Scarsdale Village.

Edgewood has most of the least expensive houses in town but the other 4 elementary school areas in Scarsdale also have affordable houses in the same price range. Edgewood is very desirable as it is more affordable for young families moving to the area, very "neighborhoody" (kids playing in the yards and hanging out together) and close to downtown Scarsdale. There is no school bus for elementary school in Edgewood as everyone is within walking distance to the school which makes for a tight-knit community. I have had many Clients over the years that have wanted to move to very large homes..they just don't want to leave Edgewood. Also, every elementary school participates in sport activities together, so when they get into the Middle School (6-8), they already know a lot of the kids. Hope this is helpful

It's true that the Edgewood area offers some nicely priced homes as does the Greenacres area too... No matter what the area, Scarsdale offers value, and it is no surprise that people simply love living there!

(To get a free bus to school in Scarsdale you need to live 1.5 miles from the school.) Edgewood families are proud to be living in Edgewood, rave about their elementary school and the Edgewood kids stay close friends beyond elementary school.

It is true that Edgewood is indeed Scarsdale's least expensive area when looking at price per square foot and average sales price. Garth Road is technically not part of Scarsdale, as the residential coops are located in Eastchester.

It appears that the "cheapest" areas of Scarsdale would be Edgewood which has smaller homes and lots, Garth Road which has more affordable co-ops in walking distance from the train station as well as, *I believe,* the North End and Green Knolls.
