"Quiet with open spaces, but bogan and poor."
Mostly quiet and peaceful, with wide open spaces and nice nature. Beautiful beach that gets flooded with tourists all summer.
The drive is far away from urban areas and most people go via Main South Road, which has the highest serious accident per kilometer travelled due to local drunks and bad drivers illegally overtaking and speeding constantly, esp at night. It is a single lane road 90km/h.
There is a subculture of criminal behaviour from people who think they are "far away" from civilisation, ie. a neighbour who tells everyone on the street to beep their horn to say "hi" when driving past their (holiday) house (constant beeping on public holidays), illegal unregistered motorcycles are common, low income renters who use properties for parties, dog hoarders who bring in hounds from the pound, people living in buses and caravans illegally, people who burn off all their green waste in smokey fires on the ground every weekend instead of using a green bin, etc, the list goes on and on
There is a constant problem with alcoholism and people dumping garbage all over the roadside (mattresses) the main roads are littered in used tyres.
A woman tried to go jogging here and had to call the police after she was followed by a male in a ute. He would be very popular in the community and with the local CFS. Young men drive unregistered motorcycles without helmets on the beach regularly, doing wheelies in the faces of people walking their dog. The police are lax and the suburb lacks the friendly lawfulness of coastal towns like Victor Harbor, or basic respect for neighbours and the law as found in closer Adelaide suburbs like Blackwood, Mitcham, Unley, etc.
While there are many people who genuinely live here who are respectful and enjoy the peace, don't expect a fantasy, this is the rural fringe of white boganism and you'll get what you pay for.

"A wonderful piece of unspoilt coastline"
We have lived at Sellicks for 4 years & love it! The beach is pristine, with views of the rugged cliffs and hills. It is lovely and quiet, a great place to bring up children or retire. Aldinga is a stones throw away, around 8 km with a shopping centre with two major supermarkets, Coles and Foodland, bakery & specialty shops, hairdressers, dental clinic etc, and also McDonalds... A hit with the kids!!! Sellicks has a great local post office and general store where you can get the best hot chips in the south!! If you are looking for a relaxed lifestyle then look no further this is our little piece of paradise!

"Small Beachside Village"
Beautiful, quiet, affordable but lacks amenities. Unfortunately you have to travel the 20km round trip into Aldinga beach, for Schools, Supemarket and other facilites. Alot of the properties are also not on main sewerage so that could be an issue. If you love the peace and quiet then this is for you. 30 mins south of Noarlunga centre.
